Forex Software | Why Design Matters

Features of well-designed forex software

G2 Crowd, a business software review company, published its annual State of Software Happiness Report, and it includes some interesting statistics.

According to G2’s findings, more than 50% of employees are unhappy at work because of the software tools they use. But employees aren’t just annoyed by the enterprise software they have to use. They’re actually leaving their jobs because of it.

In fact, about 13% of employees have quit a job because they had bad software or didn’t have the tools they needed.

As we covered in our recent post on employee retention, keeping good employees is one of the easiest ways to improve your bottom line. You need well-designed software to keep your employees happy.

In the forex space, good software has all the features you need and is designed well.

We’ve covered all the aspects of a good forex CRM before, so this post examines what well-designed forex software looks like.

Informative dashboard

Dashboards show you a variety of information, and allow you to quickly get to different parts of the system.

A good dashboard makes it easier for you to get the info you need without spending too much time in the system. The design of the dashboard is important — with so much information on one screen, it’s easy to get overwhelmed.

There should be clear labels and enough white space to divide the different sections.

Here’s how the CurrentBusiness dashboard looks.

Intuitive layout

A forex CRM can have all the features you need, but if it’s difficult to remember how to access or use those features, they won’t do much good.

Intuitive design means things move on the screen in a way feels similar to how they’d move in the physical world. That may sound abstract, but it just means that software features things like drag and drop ability that allows you to move items around as if they were physical.

Intuitive design makes it easy for you and your brokers to start using the software with very little training.

Consistent elements

Another design feature that makes it easy for brokers to start using forex software is consistent elements.

This means that things should look similar across the whole system. You should also be able to do similar things in similar ways throughout the software. For example, the process for adding a new client should be fairly similar to the process for adding a new IB.

Breadcrumb paths

It should also be simple for you to find your place within the system and get back to where you were before. Software accomplishes this by using breadcrumb paths.

Here’s an example of this from CurrentBusiness.

You can see that you’re in the Tools section, viewing the Campaign Templates in the Email Campaigns tool.

Forex CRMs and back office software are powerful tools. Unfortunately, many of them aren’t designed in a very user-friendly way. When choosing your firm’s software, don’t overlook the design features that will help you get the most out of the software you’re paying for.
